2 men injured after shots fired inside Kroger in northwest Harris County, Pct. 4 says

CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- Two men are in critical condition after shots were fired inside a Kroger store on Wednesday afternoon in northwest Harris County, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputies.

Authorities did not release information on what led to the shots being fired, but say that the men possibly knew each other.

According to Precinct 4, deputies responded to the 20300 block of Cypresswood Drive after 2 p.m.

According to deputies, there is no threat to public safety at this time, and the shooting suspect has been detained and is receiving medical treatment.

Kroger released a statement reading:

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at our Fairfield Marketplace Kroger store located at 20355 Cypresswood Drive, Cypress, TX 77433."

"We are cooperating with local law enforcement, who have secured the store and parking lot. The store will remain closed while the police investigation continues, and we have initiated counseling services for our associates."

"To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are referring questions to our local law enforcement."
